I've had my own email domain for ages.
Just a couple days ago as I was providing my email address to someone on the phone (more estate-related stuff), the person was baffled by an email address that didn't end in gmail.com. I had to reassure her that the address I'd given her was correct.

  Over on Whatever today I'm talking about GMail has turned into a spam farm so completely that a) most email I get from there is spam/scam, b) I can't assume a GMail I get is from a real person, c) people seriously need to get their own email domains these days. https://whatever.scalzi.com/2026/07/13/i-regret-to-say-that-gmail-is-now-a-spam-farm-or-why-you-should-really-get-that-dedicated-email-address-now/
