I am all to familiar with this. I went thru 5 xbox 360 machines. Every single failure was right after a forced update, as in immediately after. Consumers shouldnt be forced into an endless forced update schedule that usually just kills the device on purpose.In conversation permalink -

Short of bricking it via a failed bios update, it looks like it would be a soft brick at best, and bios could be accessed, allowing for booting from recovery or installer. I think the kid in the article is a noob. Tom's hardware should have hold him how to fix it. In conversation permalink
