      Depending on what permissions the user blithely grants, those devs can do real work.

      @PNS the reason for that is that these people are very rich and if they complain to their friends in the state legislature our app gets taken down...

      This is more of the game apps with purchasable DLC.

      Offshore in many cases. You don't go to the State Gaming Authority with your grievance for these. You go to Apple to complain. And maybe your State Rep.

      @PNS the vip treatment stuff she said is true though...we would definitely refund you if you went on a bad losing streak for example...and for the community events where like it was everyone vs everyone on two giant teams...we always put them on the winning side...but the basic slot stuff was about as close to legit as is feasible for releasing a new game every two weeks...

      @Frondeur @PNS I'm genuinely laughing at the concept of
      >they somehow know when you get paid!!!!!
      And it's just the fact that most people get paid 1st or 15th

      @PNS the biggest reason i dont believe her though...is even if that stuff is possible...apple makes a lot of rules on what we are allowed to access and when...and our PMs were literally retarded jeets who cheated their way through business school and would never be smart enough to figure out how to do it...

      @PNS push notification stuff is true...we can fire those off with anything internal happening...but we dont know when you get your paycheck...since most people get paid 1st and 15th though obviously that's when sales are being ran...what they never were competent enough to do was try to figure out who was likely paid every two weeks...simple shit like that they couldnt implement in the bureaucracy...so i wouldve had to do it by hand scraping players myself and their buy history...to sort them into different bins...

      @Rwoeidk @Frondeur

      All they need is to know if you're paid weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. And what schedule you're on: every Monday, every second Friday.

      Then if permissions exist to export user data, under the auspice of this harmless game...

      @Frondeur @PNS (Gonna yap.)
      Yeah, I am not sure how any of this would function on device or be useful as stated. I know you were on the math side, but correct me if I'm wrong since my mobile app development is more limited, but:

      1. The "wireless signal strength" idea is largely useless in an era of brain-dead simple Mesh wireless networks or, in the case of more rich people AP setups or in the case of complexes with AP setups. The wireless entitlements (permissions) on mobile devices don't surface AP or Mesh radio data so being able to filter networks out isn't useful.

      1.1 Even if you were using signal strength you don't have meaningful 3D data so you don't know if the user has their router next to a really poorly placed inlet for their coax or ONT. You don't know if they're upstairs or have dense, wifi-impeding insulation or wall materials. I am not sure what heuristic you would run across logs to account for things like that. but there are so many confounding factors that the data would be useless past... I dunno, actual spending habits?

      2. Tracking your direct deposits: How would they have that specific information? Is she implying banks sell it? Or they're hacking your bank app or some shit? I mean, tracking when users are most likely to buy based on both past behavior and common habits and sending a push alert is super common. That said, MOST of the ones I've seen and guys I've talked to, they largely do timing, app-use, and frequency based on best guess heuristics and even those are largely trend based/timer based/in-game event based. They usually do have access to device ID and Google/Apple account IDs which provide them a bunch of vital statistics (age, sex, stuff like that) which are largely based on aggregated data. Stuff that actually IS scary and IS processed into queryable nightmare data, but a lot of that is being done at the Google-tier level and is broadly unavoidable if you use modern anything.

      @snappler @Frondeur

      In regards to point number two, it is entirely dependent on device permissions. No one reads the EULA.

      @PNS @snappler yeah problem is...for each setting request we would lose something like 5-10% of players...

      Mobile gamers are morons. This isn't gambling as the law sees any of it. This some dumb fare for pixeltards. Recreational game development is unregulated and pretty much the Wild West.
