Are people in #Europe really anti air conditioning‽

“According to the International Energy Agency, only around 20% of European households have air conditioning, compared with roughly 90% in the United States and Japan.”

👉🏾 The American mind cannot comprehend Europe's AC aversion https://www.businessinsider.com/europe-air-conditioning-ac-heatwave-debate-2026-6

I know everyone wants to save on power & electricity, but when it is hot, the AC goes on!

@Eriatolc Heat can be deadly. Plus, more heat means more water usage in an attempt to stay cool. I would turn on the AC in order to avoid baking in the heat!

@darnell it's not just about saving power & electricity. It's also about leaking gaz that increase climate warming and also, while using the AC, hot air is pulsed out of the house/apartment, which also increase the exterior temperature by +3 or +4°C (especially if everyone in your street/neighbourhood) does that.

I'm not anti-AC, but everyone having one... Is it really the way to go? Is it not better to imagine collective AC, which will provided fresh air in a network?
