A comparison I found helpful and have been using more lately: it’s like the difference between trucks and Cybertrucks. I have concerns about both, but they’re very different sorts of concerns. If I say “Never buy a Cybertruck!” and someone replies “trucks have many good use cases, actually, like delivering produce to grocery stores and moving pianos,” then we are not having the same conversation.

I’m pretty sure that some flavors of #GenAI will find wholesome uses in the post-bubble future, but for the moment I feel a wave of revulsion every time I encounter AI cheerleading because it never NEVER acknowledges the force-field of greed and fear under the overhang of the multi-trillion-dollar bet being made by people I loathe who are oblivious to the oncoming financial and social wreckage they are facilitating.
