Initially thought this morning wife had said we had missed "gesshoku (月食)" and sleep-befuddled brain slipping gears wondered "What lunar eclipse? When...?"
Wife repeats: We missed geshi (夏至: summer solstice).
Me: Ah yes. It's all downhill from here (silently noting that the worst of the Japanese summer has yet to come)😓
