   Let's all talk about 54k brown people and blame everything on them so we don't notice the absolute batshit amount of wealth horded by a small group at the top of the country.

   The average, normal Dutch person has no fucking clue just how stupendously, insanely, ridiculously wealthy The Netherlands is, and just how much of that they never get to experience or enjoy because a small group at the top distracts them with asylum seekers. Fuck.

     To give you an idea of just how utterly overstated and exaggerated the asylum seeker "problem" really is - The Netherlands has a population of slightly over 18 million (in an area 1/15th the size of Ohio, so it's definitely cramped in some places), so you want to take a guess at how many asylum seekers are currently "in the process" and waiting on a decision?

     ...it's just 54000. That's it. It's basically a drop in the bucket. It's nothing. We could just accept all of them with a single stroke of the pen and nobody would notice a goddamn thing. Many of these people have already been here for years, speak the language, maybe even work, got kids, etc.

     Just 54000. In an economy desperate for job applicants.
