seen a video on the youtubes suggesting the reason modern ICE cars are so shitty is because the system is still trying to force EVs. the propaganda and subsidies didn't work, so the new plan is to make ICE vehicles expensive, unreliable, and unrepairable

I don't think that is what's happening. it's just a bunch of negative trends all coming together at once. between the climate nigger mandates, excessive consolidation under a few parent companies, and a broad decline in engineering skill and ethics, this is the result

car manufacturers clearly are trying to kill the used market, but it's not to sell EVs

THEY CAN BE IF YOU JUST HAVE A THROTTLE THAT CHANGES THE OUTPUT VOLTAGE ON THE CHARGE CONTROLLER BETWEEN A BATTERY AND AN ELECTRIC MOTOR

BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT'S GOING ON IN EVS
THERE'S A COMPUTER THAT DOES THAT, AMD IT DOES THAT BASED ON A MILLION SENSORS THROUGH A POORLY CODED SYSTEM
      LIKE
IT WILL FEATHER THE THROTTLE TO IMPROVE TRACTION ON A SLIPPERY ROAD SURFACE, FOR EXAMPLE

ALL OF IT IS OBFUSCATED, NAVIGABLE THROUGH AN APP OR A TABLET MOUNTED INTO THE DASHBOARD, AND IT'S MADE TO CONK AND FUCK UP IF ONE OF THE SENSORS CONKS

THE DRIVETRAIN BEING SIMPLE IN PRINCIPLE DOES NOTHING WHEN THE TOTAL PRODUCT IS AN ENSEMBLE OF MODERN IOT INDUSTRIAL DESIGN PRACTICES
WHERE WE STICK AN ARDUINO INTO EVERY WHEEL TO MONITOR TIRE PRESSURE AND BRAKE PAD WEAR LEVELS AND IT LOCKS UP THE CAR IF IT GIVES A BAD READING

REPLACEMENT BATTERY PACKS ARE ALREADY A MARKET FOR PRIUSES, THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M WORRIED ABOUT WITH EVS

WE HAVE PLENTY OF GUYS ASSEMBLING CUSTOM BATTERY BANKS TO ORDER IN THEIR GARAGE

WHAT I'M WORRIED ABOUT IS A PIECE OF SHIT CAR THAT DOESN'T HAVE MECHANICAL DOOR LATCHES AND BEING THIS SPIDERWEB OF SENSORS AND CABLES, SO WATER LEAKING INTO A HEADLIGHT FIXTURE CAN RESULT IN THE DOORS GETTING LOCKED SHUT, AND YOU NEEDING TO BUST A $200 WINDOW TO GET OUT, FOR EXAMPLE

AND THAT'S EV OR MODERN ICE CAR

they can be. there's less to break. the problem is that if you buy direct through a dealer, the prices are insane for major parts. it's way cheaper to buy junkyard used
in 20 years, cost of ownership will be dramatically higher, though, as by that point you'll likely already have had or need a battery pack or motors.

issue with that hypothesis in the first place is assuming EVs are in any way more reliable, cheaper, and easier to repair than a comparable ICE vehicle

@nugger @amperage1963 @deprecated_ii @ferrarilegends An Arduino would be too reliable and too free (not including recent Qualcomm fakes) - instead they use some garbage proprietary microprocessor.
