     @0 I've been shit-talking both armies to some degree this entire time, but we're about 6mo in now, and we're starting to see how the fog of war is pierced. Russians want an "impersonal" war; the further their artillery and aircraft are from their mission targets, the better things will be for Russia. Ukraine is limited in range because no one in NATO wants to give Ukraine weapons that could make it into Russia and provoke escalation, so they are more reliant on decentralized warfare in a form of "combined arms" with frontlines and shorter-range artillery. Ukraine is adapting to the situation faster, but both armies are going to have a great advantage over other armies in the conflicts to come. But Russia has to destroy the HIMARS, and Ukraine has to keep up the attrition on Russian long-range equipment and aircraft. Also, keep fucking with Crimea.

     There’s also real concern that anything new and shiny gets to market before use, sadly evidenced repeatedly. I still think NATO should shit or get off the pot, this superstate of non/involvement isn’t fooling anyone. “You can’t bomb the shipping lines.” Gonna get a rude awakening.
