California electric grid has an app to see energy use and production by source. Between about 6 and 8 am showing it go from 0 to 14 gigawatts of production from solar. The graph is a vertical cliff going up. Total demand being served by renewables at 88% right now.
14 gigawatts is a mind boggling amount of power. And most days, just falling on the ground each morning.
It seems painfully obvious to me this is the way to power a global civilization if we have the will.
