seems to me like shaktadvaitavada is like kashmir shaivism in it regards the universe as real unlike advaita vedanta. I used the think the universe was unreal, then neither real nor unreal, but now I'm leaning towards real, but dreamlike in its transience and in being an adjunct of the more permanent thing.

@sathariel that was my old position, that the universe couldnt be called real nor unreal because those are human categories without real meaning. but Brahman/the Supreme Being is real which is why its called sat/satyam, and since everything is Brahman, everything is real, even maya is a real thing with the purpose to meant to variate, limit, and obscure the ultimate truth which is Brahman.

however, I still consider evil to be unreal in a fundamental way, because its asat (although Brahman is also both sat and asat, this refers to existence and nonexistence/being and non-being, not evil, though Brahman is also above dharma and adharma) and I can't explain this dissonance yet. perhaps God will help me.

@sathariel I havent read the daodejing yet, but I can safely say they have differences. like, tao in ways is more akin to cosmic order, or rita in hinduism, a very old vedic concept. Brahman is God but its also Absolute Reality, the source and substratum of all existence. i could go on about Brahman and the panentheist monist God, maybe I should post my hymn in progress for those curious but its not ready yet...

@georgia first I'd like if you can clarify some concepts, is Brahman analog to what taoists call tao?

@sathariel if youre saying I dont have jnana then I'd agree, I have brahmavidya from knowledge of the three sources but I don't truly know Brahman in any capacity. brahman can't be known except by the Supreme Lord, though the atman can be experienced.

@georgia okay, then I'd say that I agree with taoists when they say that the more you talk about it (Absolute reality or any term you prefer) the less you know. Ascribing characteristics to that will only brings confusion, maybe this is also maya or at least it is on my understanding of the concept, and a similar action as creating/projecting ego to God. So anyways, I don't think it's something that could be solved philosophically anyways.

@georgia @sathariel the only person called nana in my family was my great grandma and she died when I was like 6 or something maybe right after my goldfish died, sucked to learn about death back to back like that, I sobbed for hours even though I had only met her twice
