I now find that the only one I really miss and that is only on laptop even. Is Workspace Matrix all others have fallen away. It is not that I don't like a lot of extensions. It is just that I do not find them needed at all. In particular docks, panels, and menus. No hate on things like dash to dock they are amazing extensions!!!! But after I took the Gnome Tour. I found that they build in navigation keybindings solved 98% off issues extensions where "solving" for me.
I think Gnome as a UI is amazing and provides the best UX. Even compared to for instance #macos which I also really enjoy to use. Gnome lets you stay on the keyboard with limited need for mouse interaction. And it stays out of the way.
Please understand I am not against customizing your system. That is one thing I love that #linux and Gnome give us.
@looopTools Is there a comprehensive GNOME keybindings cheatsheet? I have been looking for it for a looooong time, but I could never find it.
Also, how do you use keyboard-only navigation in a multi-monitor setup? It makes me so confused that I usually prefer to work only with my laptop’s monitor most of the time.
So I have been asked surprisingly a lot lately about #gnome extensions and which I recommend newcomers. The honestly I recommend none. Even on #ubuntu.
I recommend that you remove all extensions and try to use Gnome as is for the first month maybe even two.
Instead take the Gnome Tour, learn Gnome. Then if you think you need any extensions after a month or so you can add them back. After years and years running with very few extensions
