   I've ordered a device on AliExpress to run RS232 over single mode fiber for some reason which I will determine later to justify the purchase.

     <struggling now to explain to myself that "no, i don't have any legit need for that"...>

     <also now trying to figure out what would be needed for the RS232 BOB you'd want to test it>
