I still think it’s a miracle that this never happened. But then…having been on the ground here, well, we knew what the stakes were. There was a kind of cold clarity during the siege that’s…hard to convey.
When they murdered Renee Good, I could almost hear their giddy anticipation: “At last! Now they’ll snap!” And after they murdered Alex Pretti and a few days had passed and •still• nobody had murdered an ICE agent…well, that was the first time I felt like the writing was on the wall for the siege to relent.

ICE is still not out of Minneapolis-St. Paul, but I’m willing to say that we are no longer under •siege•. The Eye of Dumbass Sauron has moved elsewhere. Now it’s more an ongoing threat, usually background-level but sometimes not, that continues through normal life. You know…like the supposed criminal gang activity they used to justify their mass attack on immigrants in the first place.
It’s not over, but it’s not just MSP. It’s the whole country’s problem.

@dpp @aredridel ICE + CBP already have something like $140 billion from the OBBB. The funding that’s locked up in the Senate is additional on •top• of that.
