7 #GOP state legislators in #Indiana voted against Trump's illegal redistricting, and he spent over 8 million backing primary challengers for all of them. 5 lost their races in what was considered a test of Trump's sway over the #Republican base.

    Several thoughts:

    1. Trump is still Dear Leader to most MAGAs *who still show up to vote*. TPUSA tried to have a revenge rally to promote this shit two days ago, and four people showed up, three from the same family.

    #MAGA

Heh, and remember all this GOP gerrymandering may backfire. We're seeing 30 point swings in some special elections, and they are weakening safe seats down to one digit margins that can likely be overcome. The Tennessee map being proposed has all seats in Tennessee less than +10 GOP according to the Tennessee Holler. Then there's this former Congressman from South Carolina welcoming the same stupidity in his state:

So this whole desperate push to redistrict Indiana will probably lose Republican seats in the end.

Yes, of course they want to steal the election, but they could fuck up a one car funeral. They are doing their level best, and their level best is shooting themselves in the foot. This is why dozens of elected Republicans are retiring. These people know better than anyone what the plan is to steal 2026, and they are voting with their feet that it won't work.

In the meantime, we keep going.

      3. G Elliott Morris says in Strength in Numbers that this is poison for the Republicans in the general election, where it won't just be the hard core of MAGA voting.

So, as usual, Trump may have wanted this for his ego. As usual, no one told him no it's stupid and it will backfire. So they'll have a bunch of whackdoodles on the ballot in November whose only credential is top tier bootlicker. Even in Indiana, that won't be very popular in November, by which time the economy will be in hell.

So, not pictured in the results: everybody who is loudly or quietly quitting MAGA.

      2. They're in a completely red state and still had to spend a bunch of money on races they don't normally blow money on. And only 5/7 went the way Trump wanted. That implies that even in a state with one party Republican rule, they still aren't rigging elections yet except with the usual Jim Crow stuff in states with significant nonwhite populations, which by itself is not enough to steal November.
