I wonder if the real reason all the governments in the West are eliminating traditional snail mail, is because traditional snail mail is the only place where you are allowed privacy.

The government wants to be able to read all your texts, emails, social media, et cetera, all the time, and it doesn't even want to have to buy data from the private companies anymore to sidestep privacy rules. Now they want you to bind your identification to everything?

Snail mail is the last bastion of privacy.
