While not my very favorite messenger, #Signal is still the easiest to get tech normies to download and use. It serves its purpose for private communication with friends and family who would already have each other's phone numbers. I just don't like Signal's requirement to use a phone number.

You'll still need a phone number to register, from my understanding, but the user names will be helpful because I'd happily give my username out more freely than my phone number.

Darren (terrorofdemons@rcsocial.net)'s status on Wednesday, 23-Nov-2022 05:34:52 JST Darren @FrJoshMiller Yes, I've heard usernames should be available by end of 2023. They will be a big improvement, but Signal will still want a phone number to make an account, if I understand correctly. Maybe I'm hard to please.
