after (nearly) four years of being on fedi under my own name (and before that five years of much less activity under some other name whatever that was about) i am genuinely surprised that it's the best trans online community i've been able to find
there's so much annoying and harmful stuff going on here—but all the other spaces i've tried to exist in have been even worse
idk what it is that does it, but maybe it's the kind of loose and async way that connections work? ignoring, blocking, filtering, creating lists, asymmetric following, and also the ability to just make an alt account with overlapping connections? and instance blocking on some software too. and all of it at user-level, without breaking the community, unlike what real user-level blocking would do to a discord server for example.
