@ricardo I was trying to say that all it takes is for the manufacturer to make the OS incompatible with your model, or for applications to require resources that it doesn't have, and you end up (like I have tablets and cell phones) with devices (in perfect condition) that are useless due to software-driven obsolescence.
@xenotar It’s great we’re happy about this news, but we shouldn’t forget about corruption, the lack of transparency, corporate lobbying, and issues like chat control, the weakening of GDPR, and AI.

@ricardo Unlike tablets and cell phones, most of my "retrocomputers" remain functional with Linux and BSD updates (but not Windows). The 32-bit Intel processors have been abandoned, but I have 64-bit computers that are 18 years old running Forgejo, for example. Yes, I know I should be rich and throw them away, but I'm not.
