Thinking about my Aunt, who is recovering well from surgery for breast cancer. She is a relentlessly hopeful soul, and the beauty of the natural world is her guide. This is her picture, and it always makes me smile:

1. A view of Crater Lake in Oregon, a stunning natural feature with electric blue water surrounded by trees and rock outcroppings. The lake was formed by the collapse of a volcano, which created an incredibly deep caldera which then filled with rain and snowmelt. That water is always super cold. It is one of the most famously photographed areas in the state, spectacular from any angle, but I think my Aunt has an eye for composition.
