It's not hard to build your own router if you know basic iptables/Linux.
Last time I was in a startup that did mesh, it was still all B.A.T.M.A.N and 802.11s and neither one scaled well once you had a lot of devices out in the field. I hope it's gotten better, but there are some hard physical limits with that kinda stuff.-

@Hearth The term you want to google for is if your router models support mesh wifi
In general it is possible but I think the router firmware needs to support it
