@ntnsndr I do around 10 journal articles and 10 conference submissions per year.
I reject all requests from publishers that charge APCs (around 15 per year).

How much time do you spend with your review? … It is very time consuming to analyze (and overanalyze?), document, and explain proposed changes. I have heard from top brass that it takes an entire weekend every time. … And, as a sane person, I left academia for this reason.
Phew, really depends. Usually it takes a couple hours of an evening for me, and then I try to check my biases the next morning.
