It's wild to me the degree to which the average person still does not understand that basically the entire economy, all major lines of business, operate mostly or entirely on fraud.

To someone who doesn't understand this, I guess it might seem natural to take even somewhat extraordinary claims of a new technology doing something at face value, especially when you see other people around you taking it at face value.
