  @hajovonta Ah you make a mistake here. Public Domain also means that you as a human can slap any license you want on the work that you profligate... . =)
  The 3-Clause BSD ("MIT license") does great disservice though.
  The big issue with LLM is what you input, not what "it" (which is not copyrightedable!) -- see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monkey_selfie_copyright_dispute for fun stuff.

    Between 2011 and 2018, a series of disputes took place about the copyright status of selfies taken by Celebes crested macaques using equipment belonging to the British wildlife photographer David J. Slater. The disputes involved Wikimedia Commons and the blog Techdirt, which have hosted the images following their publication in newspapers in July 2011 over Slater's objections that he holds the copyright, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), who have argued that the copyright should be assigned to the macaque. Slater has argued that he has a valid copyright claim because he engineered the situation that resulted in the pictures by travelling to Indonesia, befriending a group of wild macaques, and setting up his camera equipment in such a way that a selfie might come about. The Wikimedia Foundation's 2014 refusal to remove the pictures from its Wikimedia Commons image library was based on the understanding that copyright is held by the creator, that a non-human creator (not being a legal person) cannot hold copyright, and that the images are thus in the public domain.   @amszmidt I asked an LLM about this, and here is its answer:
  "This is still a debated and evolving legal area. Some nuances:
  - If a human substantially curates/edits the output, that human contribution may be copyrightable
  - Different jurisdictions may treat this differently
  - The prompt itself (being human-authored) could be copyrightable, even if the output isn't"
  But of course, I agree with you and I realized I have to change my LLM-generated content to PD instead of MIT license.

    @xameer@mathstodon.xyz I know my example means little, but I always release my code under MIT because I don't care who does what with it. Not looking to monetize or gain anything for it in any way. If someone finds it useful, I put no restrictions. I just let it go. In return, I refuse to accept any responsibilities because it is not a work, but something I enjoyed making regardless of the tools I used and I already gained what I wanted. @ramin_hal9001@fe.disroot.org

  @hajovonta THERE IS A BIG DISCLAIMER IN VERY BIG LETTERS AT THE END OF THE GNU GPL THAT SAYS YOU CAN BE TOTALLY IRRESPNOSIBLE AND NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANYTHING.
