Good rule of thumb: anyone describing themselves with the word "polymath" in their profile is an utter prick and likely holds very authoritarian/right-wing views.

@dalias I have met actual polymaths - the one universal is that none were so arrogant as to describe themselves as such.

@ghostrunner It's incredibly arrogant and it's an obscure word that most people are unlikely to even know unless they've met someone who calls themself one or unless they dwell in eugenics-adjacent circles where IQ is anything but a joke.

@dalias precisely. Anyone who has taken an IQ test recognizes _exactly_ what it is "measuring", and it isnt generalized intelligence.
What concerns me is how many fintech "interview screening tests" are really just repackaged "IQ" tests. As a cis-white-man its easy to pass those, but it sets the radiation detector pegging. Finance has always been toxic, but they are really refining those isotopes of late.

@ghostrunner Yeah. What it's measuring is shared cultural context and cognitive biases with a douchy class of white people.

@lhp And thereby a label that nobody should want to be described with.

@dalias it's one of the many labels no one deserving them would ever use to describe themselves.
