   Facebook suspiciously started the day after the DARPA shut down Digital LifeLog, a US government effort to digitally catalog the lives of every US resident. FB was also funded by Peter Thiel of Palantir.
   
   For all intents and purposes, Facebook started as a government operation and it just looks like EU wants their own version of it; not dependent on the US monopoly on citizen information.
