    @tyil @arh We used to transmit obvious radio waves, like AM modulated audio, but that's much less common - much lower transmit power and spread spectrum protocols are now much more common and look pretty much random unless you known the protocol (light years away, such spread spectrum signalling would appear to be part of background radiation no matter how sensitive the detector).

      @arh@blackstar.cafe Aren't we technically broadcasting radiowaves constantly though? Any alien society that wouldn't be able to pick the radio noise up that we're making constantly is probably not advanced enough to communicate with to begin with.
