I remember how approx. 40 years ago my grandfather, himself an engineer, told me that, jobwise, I really should go into computers and "coding". "That's the future," he told me. Now, with #AI starting to lay off all the coders, I'm baffled how quick such an advice, reasonable at the time, has already become outdated to the point of irrelevance. And I'm glad I didn't heed it back then but went to university and began studies in philosophy, art history, linguistics, literature. Obviously I crashed any future employability, and it shows in my life, but man am I happy not to have become an engineer or something like that.
