     @tc_morekindness The water behind them is the Seine. I had trouble finding information about the men, but I found one site which calls them "les Forgerons-Riveteurs" which translates to "The Riveting Blacksmiths" or "The Blacksmiths and Riveters" or "The Ironsmith-Riveters." Another site says the R is "an emblem of République française."

     @jeridansky Very cool. But what are they doing? Are those streams of water behind them on either side? The one on the right seems to be holding a pole, no, maybe a handle, maybe an ax handle? His pose looks like he's about to chop something. And the one on the left seems to be holding the handle of a tool also. Digging? And what's the thing in the middle with the R? I've been studying this pic; it's v intriguing.

     @jeridansky I meant that, in the sculpture, it looks to me kind of like a stream of water behind each figure -- maybe coming from the thing in the middle. I guess maybe they're riveting the iron of the bridge, i.e., they're building the bridge.
