   Regarding the issue with telling Palestinians how they should post (beyond warning them away from practices that would get their accounts banned), I see that paternalistic.

   Our friends from Gaza are not children who need to be told what they can post and what they can’t. They have been living under the total surveillance as an occupied people for decades. (e.g., see https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/27/technology/israel-facial-recognition-gaza.html)

   There is a real risk here that such policies will lead to further erasure of Palestinian faces and voices and impair their ability to make connections here.

   I am happy to add a note to the guide warning of the possible dangers but we have to be careful not to create two sets of rules here – one for Palestinians and one for everyone else – or impose our will on our Palestinian friends who are adults and who can make these decisions for themselves.

   This is why I haven’t been quick to rush into anything. Especially before talking it through with the Palestinian members of our team and getting their input and advice.

     فريق @fedipourgaza قلق للغاية من تعليق أو حظر حسابات Gaza Verified Families من قبل المسؤولين. والسبب الرئيسي في ذلك هو أن الحسابات تقوم بوضع علامات على العديد من الأشخاص أو إرسال العديد من الرسائل المباشرة.

     عندما يحدث ذلك، يتصل موظفو Gaza Verified أو Fedipourgaza بالمسؤولين، ويشرحون لهم الموقف، ويطلبون منهم رفع التعليق. وفي الوقت نفسه، نحاول نصح الشخص المعني بتجنب التعرض للحظر مرة أخرى.

     إن إنشاء حساب جديد لن يكون مفيدًا، حيث قد تفقد أثر مؤيديك السابقين، ويتم وضع علامة عليك من قبل المسؤولين وحظرك مرة أخرى، مما يخلق حلقة مفرغة، وتفقد الثقة بشكل عام.

     السبب في أن الإشارة إلى عدة أشخاص غير مناسب ليس لأنه ”إزعاج ينتهك القواعد“. بل لأنه في النهاية يمكن أن يضر بشعب غزة، حيث يمكن أن يخلق شعورًا بالمضايقة من جانب جميع الفلسطينيين في Fediverse ويقلل من المساعدات المالية للجميع.

     نود أن تعلم العائلات التي تم التحقق منها في غزة أننا نتفهم تمامًا حاجتكم للوصول إلى المزيد من الأشخاص. ونحن هنا لدعمكم في ذلك.

     لذا، من أجل الحفاظ على حسابكم، نقترح عليكم ما يلي:

     • تجنب الإشارة إلى العديد من الأشخاص
     • تجنب إرسال عدد كبير من الرسائل المباشرة
