We're in a weird time where my visit to the periodontist (problematic tooth pulled, bone graft in, implant upcoming in four months) provided a nice break from reading the news.

Admittedly, the hour drive each way was gorgeous, with the hills bright green like a Microsoft Windows XP wallpaper. (They'll be brown in a few months as the seasonal rain ends.)

@jeridansky I'm not a photographer, and I wasn't sure what he meant by this:

"That particular spot, or this area of the wine region, is known for that same thing -- the rolling hills. I have been photographing them for a long time, with film. And yet colours never quite came out the same on Kodachrome 64, the best film you could possibly have. They were never quite green enough."

So it was the Mamiya camera or a certain type of film that made the colors greener than with the Kodachrome?

Anyway, that was interesting to learn the story of the Windows XP photo.

And hope the rest of your dental work is unproblematic. It is certainly a weird time we're in.

@tc_morekindness I'm not anywhere enough of a photographer to know, either. I just use my iPhone nowadays.

But I sure relate to his comments on how intensely green the hills look. His photo was taken about a two-hour drive north of me, but the hills here get that same amazing green. If there was any good place to pull over and take a photo as I drove the highway, I would have done that today.

@jeridansky I’m sure there are other areas elsewhere in the world with similar terrain. The Palouse in eastern WA state looks very similar with its rolling hills. It varies from green (winter wheat), to golden brown (ripe wheat) or bright yellow (canola).
