In case anyone was wondering how the Celestarium shawl is coming along:
It is blue. It has sparkles. It has several lifelines and soooo many stitch markers. I’m happy with it, but there’s soooo much of it left to knit

Finally blocking Celestarium
I thought about grabbing something to measure from the center out so that everything is super even, but then I decided to eyeball it instead. TBH most of the time it’s gonna be bunched up around my neck or folded around my shoulders, so a perfect circle isn’t necessary. And I can always aim for more perfection when I wash & reblock it a few years from now
11 days later, and she is finally done!!!
Washing and blocking will happen another time. Maybe tomorrow if I get the motivation, but probably next weekend
But soon I will be wearing the night sky around my shoulders 🥹 #Knitting #FiberArts
What’s this??? How can this be??? We have finally reached… the edging??? Incroyable!!!
I’m not even a quarter of the way around yet, but it’s so satisfying to see it slowly come off the needles

There are a number of different edgings people have used for this shawl. I think the original garter stitch edging is just a bit too plain, but I love the double row of simple beaded lace knitsoftwear on Ravelry did for her shawl, so that’s what I’ll be doing, too!
This may not look different than all my other pictures of the Celestarium shawl, but it is. That’s the beginning of the first round after completing ALL the charts
And the stars are back in alignment! Pic one is post-fix, but showing the reknit stitches wonkily sized because of the fix. Pic two shows the stitches looking a bit better after I readjusted tension between loops.
(I’m not sure the difference looks like much to anyone but me, but I like the adjustment)
Today I discovered a star was left out of the night sky, so Desperate Times, Desperate Measures
Round 136 of 156
About 12k stitches to go before I start the border
Round 120 of 156
The thing I truly love about long projects like this is the ability to just sink into the present moment
I’m making blue stitches, I’m occasionally placing a bead, and I know I will be doing these two things for probably the next month to three months
It becomes what feels like a timeless activity. Click, click, click, bead, click click click
Celestarium update:
Still blue. Still beaded. Still going to take approximately 6,789 months to finish
I don’t know how other people knit this pattern, but one thing I for sure am not doing is ceaselessly counting while knitting
At the beginning of the round, I insert locking stitch markers where each YO or bead should go, and then knit merrily away without needing to count at all while I work
Also, I can obsessively count & recount while placing the stitch markers, instead of reknitting for fear I missed something #Knitting #FiberArts
Last round of increases complete, and last set of charts begun! I’m nearly finished!
(Dear reader, she is nowhere near finished. She’s just delusional, and we shall leave her to her happy obliviousness.)
