My fucked up cast iron is fucked up no more!
That cast iron was so fucked, I actually had to sand it! I have no idea how that substitute caregiver fucked it up so badly!

Oh, and yes, 450 degress F came out nicer than 400. It's glossy AF! I'm quite pleased with this higher temperature. I haven't cooked on it yet, and I couldn't touch it at the time I last saw it, but it looked fantastic!
What I used to season - Any time anyone made bacon or any other greasy meat, and didn't have seasoning in it, I poured the grease through a coffee filter and kept it in the freezer. I took a glob (too big a glob, there was waste, sadly), melted it, and added a little olive oil.
Obviously, this isn't helpful for vegetarians. When I was vegan, I usually used just olive oil, but the results just weren't as good.
@thejikz The stove here is glass, and cast iron works just fine on it.
@hellomiakoda I love that anyone is using cast iron. I wish I didn't have a glass cook top, I want to do cast so bad. Someday!
@hellomiakoda My style is too agressive for cast, I use shake and slam for flipping stuff...I would certainly break shit. LOL
@thejikz You could alwyas get one of those signle burner things.
@mweiss If I ever manage to acutally get linseed oil, I'd love to experiment.
Using the same temp and time, season 1 pan with just bacon grease, 1 pan linseed, and 1 pan a blend.
@hellomiakoda linseed oil is the best to use if you're vegan. The same reason it is used in oil paint (durability) is what makes it good for cast iron.
@thejikz I haven't tried it, but... Cast iron is obviously ferrous. It should work on those single burner induction things.
@hellomiakoda I am thunkin about that, good call, even if for an outdoor one. I grill sometimes so it wouldn't be much different.
