It's been 17 years since I registered lxoliva@identi.ca, when that server still run what is now known as GNU social.

wow, time flies when we're having fun.

thanks to the people who've made the Fediverse what it is, and to those who strive to make it better every day.

it was called laconica back then, but it was the inception point of the Fediverse. the network has grown with newer protocols, many new implementations thereof, but if identi.ca hadn't been switched to pump.io and Mastodon hadn't kicked the ladder, that server could have remained interoperating with other Fediverse servers to this day. Heck, since some status.net servers remain that also speak ActivityPub, we could even disregard Mastodon's ladder-kicking: it would be still able to interoperate with them if it hadn't moved to pump.io.

@lxo I didn't know GNU social was so "ancient". well, it was not Fediverse yet, but some kind of free distributed network.

@lxo Happy Fediversary dear Alexandre. In the meat world I might be the older one but at Fediverse we share the same age. Alas, I forgot when I registered to identi.ca. 🎉🪠🛸
