   Why was Beverly Crusher the only bridge crew member who had children? (single mom, though no one's fault as Jack died an honorable red-shirt death on an away mission). Picard hated children, Worf didn't know he had one, though when he did, he attempted fatherhood, failed at it and sent the child to live with his grandparents.
   
   In DS9, once again, only two of the bridge crew have families, with the Commander in the same single parents due to Picard situation. Worf does have an episode with his son, where Worf's absence shows his son's challenges in learning to be a Klingon.

     It might have just made the writing easier. Wait, I was including O'Brien as bridge crew (or ops crew). Who else had kids besides him and Sisko (I didn't count Worf; it was one episode and Alexander was grown) ... oh I guess the nerdy Ferengi and his kid Nog?

     @djsumdog Data also tried to create a "child" of his own. Anyhow, perhaps, despite there being families and children on the ship, most of the bridge crew were smart enough to realize how stupid an idea it actually was.
     
     Deep Space Nine was a little different, so I don't consider families/children a dumb idea there. Though he wasn't an officer, I consider O'Brien to be part of the "bridge crew" for the station.

     huh ... Gene Roddenberry had three children ... and one is still "Executive Producer" on all the recently green-lit atrocities like Discovery, Picard and Academy.
