I got about 3 hours into producing a gaming benchmark comparison video between Cachy OS and Windows, only to realize the laptop I'm testing on has HDCP baked in on a hardware level.

It means there is absolutely no way to capture video with an external capture card when I'm on Windows.

Ofc everything works flawlessly on Linux...

    Back to the drawing board!

(For context, you never want to use on-device software like OBS to capture benchmark runs because it causes a performance hit. AND that hit can be variable between Windows and Linux.

@raptor85 @flaki Thank you both for the suggestions. As long as they're cheap I don't mind grabbing one. The reason I want to use THIS particular laptop for the benchmark comparisons is that it's an all AMD system.

@killyourfm oh, and the cheaper chinese ones are in general better, you don't want full HDMI compliant because compliant ones re-encrypt the output.

@killyourfm get a HDMI splitter, most of them strip HDCP, that's how I used to stream PS3 stuff. Mine was by "ViewHD" but they're cheap and most of them work, look online, plenty of lists of ones people know to work.
