    > Apple's M4 Mac Mini Hits $499 Low Price on Amazon

When the first mac was developed, the target price for it was $499, with would be ~$1,500 in today's dollars. After several revisions, it eventually sold at $2,499, nearly $8,000 today.

The current M4 Mac Mini would have been only ~$150 in 1984.

If you think that computing has become expensive, I'd ask you to recalibrate.

Also, you don't need the latest thing. Most use cases don't require 32gb+ ddr5 with an nvme. Refurbished gear can suffice.

@Humpleupagus @lain yeah I think people are freaking out way too much and a lot of YouTubers and shit are kind of perpetuating it. The only time I ever hear people talking about the used market is in passing for like 2 seconds and it's like they view it more as a joke.

Even then, prices will eventually stabilize, and more plants are being built. Just going through a bit of a doozy right now.
