   The Kickstarter funds did allow me to spend quite an amazing year focused on Pixelfed and Loops.

   I even attended FediCon (https://fedicon.ca) and gave my first keynote!

   But a large chunk of the funds went towards paying our team and hosting.

   Now I need to find some long term sponsors like Mastodon has.

   Just imagine what we could do with $10,000+ a month on Patreon.

   I could work full time and quit my job!

     I'm more excited than ever, I'm actively working on a major UI improvement and plenty of backend updates that will bring Pixelfed into the future, a real alternative to Instagram, Flickr, 500px and more.

     Just because I spent a good vacation away from Pixelfed (well deserved IMO), I've learned so much from Loops, and can't wait to make Pixelfed shine even brighter.

     I've seen doubt before. I proved them wrong.

     Pixelfed is my baby. You'll see ❤️

     @dansup I don’t regret for a second having supported your kickstarter campaign. It wasn’t much, I know, but it was what I could.
     But the fact that you are visibly tired of Pixelfed after all this years doing that, makes me not regret the past but having to be realistic about the future.
     I honestly wish you all the best regarding loops, but that’s not for me.
     And just to be clear, that doesn’t change a bit the huge respect that I have for your effort all this time regarding PF

     @dansup this is one big thing the fediverse is missing, a sustainable financing model.
     I could imagine something like paid subscriptions to accounts, with e.g. 85% of the subscription fee for the acount, 10% for the hosting and 5% for the maintainer of the software. In my opinion it is humiliating for instance hoster as for software maintainers having to ask for money to keep the fediverse running. And I think more people are ready to pay for content than to pay for infrastructure.
