Had an exciting commute this morning throwing my shitbox into the ditch to avert an imminent rear end collision with the car in front of me. I've driven on icy roads before, but that was the first time I've experienced ice so bad it was like the brake pedal became DLC I hadn't bought.

Hell yeah
The brakes went out in the van last week but I was able to divert and limp home and fix it.
Is your car totaled?

Seems fine, I might've got lucky. I thought for sure the car was done for when I came to a stop in the dirt, but I was able to back it out and get it to work. On the way home I heard metallic scraping sounds as I went over bumps and thought I'd obliterated a control arm, but I checked the undercarriage after I pulled in and saw the heat shield around the o2 sensor was just loose and scraping on the ground. Not that surprising since I just replaced the sensor and the replacement rivets I used to secure the shield were plastic, the shock from going over the curb must've snapped them.

I am too. The car I nearly rear ended was a Porsche Macan. It wasn't my life flashing before my eyes, it was future insurance premium rape.

@Hoss Whew, what a terrifying description. That's, uh...pretty rough. Any damage from the maneuver?

Just a loose undercarriage heat shield, nothing else as far as I can tell.
