     This Telegram premium thing has got me thinking again about federated messaging protocols
     
     I got pretty deep into XMPP this spring and I'm starting to wonder if designing a new messaging protocol might be more practical than improving XMPP's UX to be on par with Telegram or Signal
     
     Or maybe I should give Matrix another try, last time it was an absolute shitshow
