      @Inginsub I hate that all these retro 3d slop games have completely beat things to death to the point now that they are going to eventually make everything except photo-realistic modern graphics unappealing because of the stink of the association.

      @icst the first boomer shooter (2010s slop, not a game from the 90s) I saw was “inspired by Wolfenstein 3D”, and that apparently meant 8x8 brick wall textures and dynamic lighting. A lot of old games don’t look that shabby even to this day, because a lot of care was put into making them look good with all the technical limitations, and modern retro-inspired games try to look as shitty as possible despite running on supercomputers.

      @icst apparently they actually marketed this one as a morrowind successor, even though the only elements they have in common are health/mana/stamina bars in the bottom left corner, monsters that look like flying jellyfish, and giant mushrooms. I have no idea how they thought a game with chunky pixelated textures and 7 polygons per character model resembles morrowind in any way. When I played morrowind for the first time, years after oblivion, I thought it looked surprisingly good for a game from (then) 10 years ago.
