The thing about SF is that you can do cliche after cliche and dress it up, literally, in an alien costume and glowing swords.
But you shouldn't.
The scene were the abusive dad comes in and abuses his children is so very predictable.

But having the dad talk like any old abuse asshole would also be good.
"Kwei, I told you to kill your shit-runt of a brother. You goin' soft on me?"
Also, personally, I think all of that dialogue could have been so much more interesting if the brothers spoke casually with each other.
Instead of, "I cannot allow this," have older brother say, "Bro, I can't let you do that." Instead of "He thinks I am the weakest, so I must defeat the strongest" have little brother say, "Dad calls me the runt, but I'll show him."
Then, shift to formal speech for making the vow, and *maybe* the dad coming back.
