They just spray de-icer on the tracks? I've lived in places that wouldn't work. A lot of EU cities have electric track warmers, and Chicago just has fucking natural gas pipes right on the track. Trains look like their driving through hell to get to the city stations. -

This makes me think of the book Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata. Amazing book.
