   for anyone else still trapped on NixOS, it seems 25.11 has broken a bunch of amdgpu stuff. this might apply only to older Radeon cards, I’m not sure (and neither is anyone still working on nix, cause nobody cared enough to check) but if you’re noticing:
   - stuttering/screen freezes
   - driver crashes
   - your VT locking up when switching between a graphical and a text session or during modesetting

   then the only solution I’ve found is to revert back to 25.05

     @pb yep! key portions of Nix are under the effective control of Anduril, a Palantir-style military-industrial complex contractor. a bunch of nixpkgs maintainers have left for a variety of reasons including a set of pressure campaigns originating with Anduril (which made the NixOS Discourse resemble current-day Twitter), several power grabs from Nix core maintainers, and those same maintainers establishing a thin corporate front to make various aspects of Nix and NixOS proprietary

     @zzt Ah crap, is NixOS fascist too? I’ve been living under a rock. I was playing around with it the other day and thought it was neat, but I guess I’ll count myself lucky that I’ve only installed it in a VM.

     there’s some discussion on the NixOS discourse (cw: fascist dickheads) about how reverting linux-firmware might fix it but that didn’t work for me and I’m not confident anyone still working on this crap has any idea what they’re doing
