     @calicoday @whitequark flarum and discourse are both pretty simple to spin up, especially if you're comfortable with Docker containers.

     @whitequark the global problem is that people look for "replacement" while it should be "displacement" of any centralized resources. while there're any centralization there will never be real safety and at any moment it can be seized by corps.

     I heard this so many times for decades! this is a non-profit something and it's our holy cow. and then it's sold out and that all starts again. github also was non-profit at start, who cares.
     there's NO such a thing as a free server, this is someone else's server or yours. this is simple.

     there's no "non-profit" orgs. people work for money. and the only reason to start any organisation is money. someone pays for servers. the rest is bullshit.
