Yep. x11 vanished from the menu on the login screen. Awesome. Ah, #Linux, it's all about user choice... unless you happen to have a machine that doesn't play nice with the thing someone randomly decided needed to be switched to exclusively n a giant god damn hurry without giving an iota of a fuck who's system will stop working.
THIS is the sole reason I LOATHE wayland.
It's being forced on me.

At last Canonical sticking an Amazon ad in my launcher didn't break my shit.
Of everything I ever experienced on Windows, having to worry if updates will render my system useless was not on my list of things I miss.

Ffs, even Ubuntu Gnome vanishing left my system working fine. I had all the time in the world to figure out what distro to hop to. Not this *poof* "Good luck on a system that won't work right on Wayland, fucker!" bullshit!

It WAS stable, for years, till wayland became the new mandate. Sorry if years ago I had no idea we'd speedrun changing the entire way things are drawn on the display.

@hellomiakoda What type of machine do you have in terms of Hardware and what desktop do you use? Also if the machine is older and you need a reliable system, I'd recommend you to not use a rolling release and bleeding edge Distro that gives you the latest packages (this may be why Wayland is forced upon you). Also I had Manjaro break my stuff more often than normal Arch, so maybe use something else like CachyOS or something more stable.

@theredstonedev_de Is a laptop with a desktop processor, 2018... so, ya know, not ancient. Has a GTX 1080 in it. It ran nicely 12 god damn hours ago when I could select x11.

@mdione @theredstonedev_de I found the package plasma-x11-session that restored x11. I know that's a stop gap though. I guess eventually, I'll end up on Debian. I don't particularly like Debian. Maybe Arch has x11. Arch seems to have just about everything.

Yes, at least KDE plans to stop supporting X11 because X11 has no support in itself.
Because of that last part, some distros decided to stop supporting X11 now. @hellomiakoda 's seems to be in this group.
Sorry, but I don't have good solutions, besides reinstalling to the previous version or installing something that still supports X11. f.i., people always complain that Debian stable "is too old", but it's in the name: stable.

@hellomiakoda Yeah but some desktops like KDE anf Gnome planned to remove the X11 support completely (I don't know if they've done it yet), so maybe that update rolled out. I somehow don't see why the 1080 wouldn't work under Wayland... But I've also read that NVidia wants to strip out support for the 1000 series of GPUs soon (as of driver 590). It should be supported via Nouveau/NVK though, so you might want to check that out if you don't need video transcoding and AI stuff.
