Something I wonder about. When it comes to LLMs, it’s often said that the shareholders or “Mr. Market” are demanding its use. What’s the *structure* of that demand? How is it made known to CEOs? It’s sure not coming from me and my Vanguard Total Stock Market index fund. Is it rather an individualistic thing with, say, hedge fund managers?

If so: OK, sure. CEOs are responding rationally to investor pressure. But why is that particular set of investors making that particular irrational demand?

@marick The mechanism is "news" media. It's telling the CEOs investors are demanding "AI" and companies without it will be left behind. It's telling investors CEOs are doing this because they know other investors want it. Neither is actually expressing a demand to the other. The parties arranging for placed "news" stories (and then not even having to do that once they seed it, since the same scam creates perception of demand for "news" about the thing) are the only actual sources of pressure.
