   @anathem gparted wont boot. I have no idea why it doesn't even show up on the list of bootable partitions

     @Rasp Is https://www.system-rescue.org/ what you're looking for? It's a minimal linux distro distributed as a CD/USBStick image with all the tools you might need to clean or rescue a system. Though I don't know which are CLI only or have a GUI -- at least GParted is with GUI and I think that is able to format a drive without resorting to CLI tools.
