I love it when right-wing extremists claim the EU is trash compared to the US. Here's some numbers.

    - Homicide rate in US is 5 times as high as in the EU.
    - Traffic death rate in the US is 30 times as high as in the EU.
    - Poverty rates are higher in the US than in the EU.
    - Life expectancy in the US is several years shorter than in the EU.
    - Medical bankruptcy is effectively a US-only phenomenon, and extremely common there.
    - Health outcomes in the US are trash compared to the EU.
    - Number of overdose deaths in the US is substantially higher than in the EU.
    - Americans are far less happy than Europeans.

And this is just a small selection. The US is a third-world country with a small number of ultra-wealthy individuals tricking dumb fucks that they're better off than the rest of the world.

What Europe Can Teach America on Road Safety: Killing by Design
      from Paul Myles
A study by The Economist points out that if there were a mandate on U.S. passenger vehicles to be limited to a weight of less than 5,000 lbs., a potential 2,300 lives in multi-vehicle accidents could be saved annually.

America's Poor Are Worse Off Than Elsewhere - Confronting Poverty
      from Randy Federighi
It is certainly true that if we compare the U.S. to countries in sub-Saharan Africa, physical poverty in the U.S. is obviously less extreme. The United States does not have the widespread famine and severe stunting of children that is sometimes found in extremely poor countries. However, most analysts would argue that the more relevant [...]

How does the quality of the U.S. health system compare to other countries? - Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker
      from Imani Telesford
Across a wide variety of measures of quality, the U.S. health system appears to perform worse than peer nations on more indicators than it does better. Across a wide variety of measures of quality, the U.S. health system appears to perform worse than peer nations on more indicators than it does better. However, inconsistent and imperfect metrics make it difficult to firmly assess system-wide health quality.

Europe dominated the happiest countries in the world list. What about the United States?
      from Jordan Mendoza
Finland was picked as the happiest country in the world by the United Nations for the fifth straight year. The U.S. didn't even make the top 10.

@pettanko @thomholwerda people like thom are gonna end up voting to bring those rates to the EU anyway, with the bonuses of not being able to shit talk the government, and being sent to jail if you even do a mean face to someone brown after they rape/mug/stab you.
