   Hey @kde I want you to get all the donations you need to keep going and then some, but having popups on our desktops that effectively amount to ads is a gigantic no-no that could push people away for good instead. This was not a good idea and I STRONGLY urge you to remove this "feature" ASAP.

   Yes even only once a year is still too often. No ads/etc should ever be a popup within the DE itself. That is never an acceptable practice. I think you underestimate people's well earned hatred of popups and ads. I assure you, they make us MAD.

   (I'm getting techbro vibes from the responses, so I'm just muting this. Consider this user feedback and ignore if you will.)

     As much as I'm with you on popup ads, I can't deny that this popup is effective.

     If they keep it to a single popup a year, I will deal with it.
     Gnome also hit me with a dono popup while full screen, IN GAME.

     I haven't heard anything about the popup (nor have I asked) from the 2 people I installed both KDE & Gnome for.

     Outside of that, pop up ads can go to hell. :smb3_sun:

     This is not an advertisement. It is to remind people once a year that the system they use needs their help. Once a year? I don't mind at all. It works for a lot of people (they shared stats). KDE allows you to disable it. I don't wait for it to give them money - I had done this earlier this year - but as a user, I also need other people to donate. Ultimately, it is all users who benefits from it.

     And you're complaining because they asking you once a year if you would be OK with spending money.

     I am HAPPY that KDE does this, they deserve more money, as they are not getting enough of it. I don't want KDE projects to die one after another, IDK about you. Did you even donate this year?

For community projects like kde, donations should be heavily encouraged, they're making a great piece of software that doesnt get money through data hoarding nor through being the product that you pay for, you have to fall under at least one of these two categories for this pop up to qualify as an advert, rather than a mere humble call to action.

     @nazokiyoubinbou my guy... it is ONE notification a year and you can easily disable it... this is literally not a problem.

     A single notification is bringing massive income to #KDE , this is def worth doing.
     It's not even a popup window or fullscreen thing... just a tiny popup.
     Don't assume your annoyance match "us" (Plasma users) opinions like you mentioned in your post

     Thunderbird does a whole tab that appears every year.
